Gildenor was once the westernmost province of the Remice Empire and is now considered to be the name of the peninsula making up the bulk of the old province. It’s also used as an alternate name of the Blodding kingdom Engelsryk which occupies the northern part of the peninsula and part of the nearby Vestrona continental mass.
Gildenor has a population of about 4 million people, 3.3 million of whom are human (or pass for human). About 300,000 are half-orcs, 100,000 half-elves, 100,000 goblins or hobgoblins, 100,000 dwarves or gnomes, 50,000 halflings, 25,000 elves, 10,000 orcs, 10,000 other demi-humans and humanoids and 5,000 non-humanoid sentients.
The largest city is Engelsby, (Alasol in Old Imperial Common), with a population of about 30,000. Second largest is Jaxxon, population about 20,000. The cities of Beharn and Surlow each have about 12,000 population. Merleon with 10,000 and Aventine and Hallabar with 8,000 each round out the mostly human cities. Ot-Ob-Ub-Og is a goblin city in the eastern province of Obsryk and Novalu is a Sea-Elf “city” on the island of Sellador. The Ghillie city of Rysefon is tributary to Engelsryk though not actually part of the kingdom. The large dwarvish town of Skond is also notable and the halfling town of Rusford can be seen on some maps.
In our world, Gildenor corresponds roughly to Southern California, a bit of Nevada, and the upper half of the Baja California peninsula.
